People usually say prayers to ask for safety and to make sure everything goes smoothly during an event. It’s important to recite these prayers thoughtfully, as there are certain etiquettes to keep in mind. When you pray with the right mindset, hopefully, your wishes will be granted and you'll receive blessings.

Here are a few things to remember when saying your prayers: raise your hands and face the Qibla. Keep your voice soft and calm—no shouting, please. Avoid overdoing it in your recitation. Start by praising Allah and sending blessings on the Prophet.

Don't forget to seek forgiveness from Allah SWT and make it a habit to say istighfar regularly during your prayers. It's important to ensure that each prayer is offered with good intentions and to avoid any negative requests. Approach your recitation with humility and a hopeful heart, trusting in Allah's grace and mercy.

Pray steadily and with full confidence in Allah SWT. When you recite your prayers, speak clearly and take your time—there's no need to rush through them. Remember, the sincerity of your heart matters more than the speed of your words. Below are some suggested sequences for official closing prayers that you can use after a syukuran event or meetings, helping to wrap up the gathering on a positive note.

Examples of Official Closing Prayers

1. Short Closing Prayer

For regular organizational meetings, you can keep the prayer brief and to the point. This type of prayer captures all the wishes and hopes of the group. Here’s a simple version:

Meaning: "Glory be to Allah. O Allah, my Lord, there is no god but You. I ask for Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.”

Reciting this short du'aa before leaving a gathering is a wonderful way to erase any mistakes you may have made during the event. This prayer is based on a saheeh hadith from Tirmidhi, emphasizing its authenticity. By incorporating this du'aa at the end of every meeting, you not only seek forgiveness but also remind yourself of the importance of humility and sincerity in your interactions. It's a simple yet profound way to conclude your time together on a positive note.

2. Long Event Closing Prayer

Meaning: "O Allah, help us to fear You in a way that keeps us from disobeying You. Grant us the obedience that leads us to Your Paradise, and give us the strength to face the challenges of this world with confidence.”

"O Allah, bless us with the joy of hearing, sight, and strength for as long as we live. Make these blessings our legacy. Reward us for those who mistreat us, and protect us from our enemies. Don’t let our struggles overwhelm us, and don’t let this world be our only goal or the height of our knowledge. Please, don’t allow those who don’t care for us to have power over us." (HR. Tirmidhi)

3. Closing prayer from HR. Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah

Meaning: "O my Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance."

You can find this du'aa in the book al-Qur'an and Hadith by Shaykh Sa'id bin Wahf Al-Qahthani. Ibn Umar reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would always say this prayer before getting up and leaving a gathering. It is recommended to recite it 100 times, as this practice can help cleanse your heart and strengthen your connection with Allah. Making this du'aa a regular part of your routine can enhance your mindfulness and humility in everyday interactions.

4. Closing prayer of the Coordination Meeting of the Director General of Religious Courts of the Supreme Court of Indonesia

"In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. We express our gratitude for all the mercy and blessings You have given us. Today, we gather for the closing of this event, which we hope pleases You.”

Every prayer carries a positive meaning that contributes to the success of the event. That's why it's important not to skip prayers at the beginning and end of any activity. Prayers bring blessings to everything we do, and when recited sincerely, they make our requests more likely to be answered.
